Reducing the risk of orthopedic failed surgery

Bone fragility is linked to increased complications following orthopedic surgery. Medimaps’ TBS Ortho1 is designed to support orthopedic surgeons by providing comprehensive pre- and post-surgical assessments of bone microarchitecture and fragility, aiming to reduce complications and enhance surgical outcomes.

TBS Ortho, a product currently in development, aims to provide orthopedic surgeons with a precise tool to evaluate site-specific bone health both before and after surgery. This assessment aids in optimizing surgical outcomes and minimizing the risks of implant displacement and surgical failure.

Objectives of TBS Ortho

To assess bone microarchitecture at a specific body site prior to or post orthopedic surgery

To support the surgeon in selecting the best implant according to patient bone status

To reduce the risk of implant displacement and failed surgery

Status of development

The first studies on Medimaps proprietary technology, Texture Research Investigational Platform (TRIP), were conducted at the knee and lateral spine with DXA. These studies show promising results including for the pull out study2,3.
